On Saturday 11 October, we were delighted to welcome more than 100 alumni back to school for our annual Alumni Afternoon Tea. Guests spanned almost 70 years of school history, from the Class of 1956 through to 2025, making for a truly special afternoon of shared memories, laughter, and reconnection.

For some, it was the first time they had returned to the school since leaving, and many commented on how much had changed. The sense of nostalgia was beautifully balanced with excitement and pride at seeing how the school continues to grow. One alumna described being “taken aback by the enormous changes at SWPS, all very impressive,yet it still feels just like home.”

Our student ambassadors were on hand to lead tours around the school, sharing insights into new facilities and projects. The tours proved to be a highlight for many guests, who praised the students as “wonderful - a real credit to the school.” Others reflected on how much they enjoyed seeing the school through the eyes of the next generation, and how inspiring it was to witness the spirit of the community carried forward.

The afternoon tea itself provided the perfect setting for old friends to reconnect. One group from the Class of 1975 celebrated their 50th anniversary since leaving, describing the event as “a lovely reunion within the school’s 300th anniversary - a day we’ll always remember.”

As the afternoon drew to a close, the atmosphere was filled with warmth and gratitude. Guests spoke of the delicious food, the friendly welcome, and the joy of reminiscing together once more.

The event was a wonderful reminder of what makes our community so special – the friendships, the shared experiences, and the enduring connection between past and present students. We’re so grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so memorable, and we look forward to welcoming many more of you back next year to continue celebrating the remarkable spirit of SWPS.
