Trisha Goddard (SWPS 1969-1975)

I was delighted to have an Insta chat with Trisha Goddard one of our iconic SWPS Alumna. "Willie Perks recognised the true power of women, and helped 'realise my dreams'"

I have been trying to get some interesting news stories for our Perkonians and I contacted Trisha Goddard in the hope she would respond - I was quite taken aback to receive an instant reply to my insta message.  She remembers "Willie Perks" as she calls the school with very fond memories.

"The photo was taken when I was in Form 2L. Miss Daniels (who taught Classics) was our form teacher. Miss Sames was Headmistress and after she retired Miss Timbrell took over.

Back then my favourite lessons were English (teacher Miss Millard is someone I credit for firing up my passion for journalism) - I also loved Geography with Miss Cork, History with Miss Littleboy and French with Miss Davies was another favourite.

I absolutely loved my school days. I was learning classical piano and sometimes played at assemblies, probably Fur Elise! Thanks to Miss Millard I was often in school plays; 'Arms and the Man' and 'An Inspector Calls' were two I acted in.

"I got into Willie Perks having passed my 11+ and it was the absolutely making of me. The 70's really heralded the emergence of feminism, and going to a school that recognised the true power of women back then has definitely helped me realise my dreams! The school is very dear to me."

Trisha Goddard who was in Dancing on Ice recently, is a Presenter/Journalist as well as a Producer.  She is a mental health activist and breast cancer survivor.  She loves to run and roller skate  You can follow her on @therealtrishagoddard on instagram where she posts some "real" photos and shares a little about her life.
